  PLEASE READ - RACIST STAFF My friend and I, two English males came to this 'barber shop' 2 days ago. We know only a little Spanish but were polite as always and hoped for a certain level back. What followed was the most awful experience ever. There were 5 workers as we walked in. Not one person acknowledged us and if it wasn't for all the cutting equipment you wouldn't know it was a place offering a service. The guys all looked very scruffy and were sitting there watching videos on YouTube so in hindsight we should have looked for somewhere else but it was our first day in Arequipa and it was the first 'hairdressers' we come across. They called a guy who I guess was on his work experience to cut my hair and the other 4 including the manager all point-blank refused to cut my friends hair while mine was being cut. In all fairness the guy cutting my hair tried to make some conversation but each time he was spoke over by one of the other guys in there who we were warned about. He was the most loud, foul, scruffy and vulgar person we've ever met and what we did understand of his Spanish was just racist insults to my friend and I. This made us feel extremely uncomfortable and couldn't believe we'd come to a country showing respect and we were being treated like this. The haircut was horrendous, took over an hour for what usually takes half hour and he ended up cutting the top of my head to pieces to the point I've had to wear a hat for the last 2 days. From the gist of the conversation I'm not sure the guy even worked there and it was some sort of game to see how long he could take over it. I went back in twice over the last couple of days to speak to a manager and was met with different staff who were just as rude. When my hostel called the shop this afternoon she managed to get through to the manager who mocked her and refused to give his name. I don't think my request for a refund and an apology was unreasonable and by acting as you did on the phone today you made a massive mistake. Your shop was actually on a recommendation list in hostels / hotels but I'll be working with the manager here to ensure its removed from them all and warnings put out about what goes on in that place. I will also be putting this everywhere on the internet so everyone can see just how you treat your customers. So I guess that's all I have to say. I can live without 30 soles and accept it was just an unfortunate encounter with some awful people but I hope you can live with the impact this could have on your business. As I was reminded today, never choose to go somewhere where it is empty and there isn't even locals there. Good luck for the future - you'll need it! Warm wishes, Bradley
